Sony’s Project Q Will Retail For Under $300, Reckons Microsoft

Stephen Totilo has revealed more findings from the FTC’s investigation into Microsoft’s proposed Activision buyout, in which it quotes Microsoft as saying that Sony’s upcoming Project Q device will retail for under $300.

The quote reads as follows: “Sony is also anticipated to release a handheld version of PlayStation 5 later this year for under $300.” For all we know this could be $299.99, but at least we have an idea of what to expect.

Sony announced Project Q during the PlayStation Showcase earlier this year, and supports adaptive streaming for up to 1080p and 60 FPS. The device uses Remote Play and requires a constant Internet connection, and features an eight-inch screen, haptic feedback and more.

The FTC is Microsoft’s biggest thorn in its side as far as securing the Activision Blizzard deal, and it has been suggested in recent court filings that the Xbox format holder could abandon the merger if the FTC is granted its requested preliminary injunction.
