Star Ocean: The Second Story R, a remake of the much-loved second game in the popular RPG series, is officially in the works for PS5, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch, Square Enix and Tri-Ace have announced today. The remake was previously leaked via a banner that appeared on Square Enix’s support website.
Star Ocean: The Second Story R will launch on November 2, 2023 and will be available as a digital download and on disc, retailing for $49.99. The remake promises to deliver a ‘unique 2.D aesthetic’ while offering everything the original game had while introducing new elements.
Combining 3D graphics with pixelated 2D characters, Star Ocean: The Second Story R sees players beginning their journey as Claude or Rena, and your choices will determine the perspective and allies that will help shape your journey.
The game employs fast-paced combat fuelled by new mechanics, allowing you to defeat your foes strategically, and you’ll get to know your party via the Private Actions system, where you’ll grow relationships and unlock new endings.
Star Ocean: The Second Story R is due out on November 2 for PS5, PS4, PC, and Switch.
