Final Fantasy XVI Receives Near-Perfect Score From Famitsu

Japanese gaming bible Famitsu has awarded Final Fantasy XVI a near-perfect score in its review, with the Square Enix RPG receiving 39/40.

According to the publication, Final Fantasy XVI will take around 30 – 40 hours to complete the main story, although if you’re a completionist, you’re looking at around 70 hours. Speaking of play time, the Platinum Trophy will reportedly take you around 70-90 hours to obtain, according to PowerPyx.

Final Fantasy XVI is pencilled in for release tomorrow, June 22, exclusively for the PS5. According to PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, the download will clock in at 90GB, which is what you’d expect for a massive RPG. Square Enix confirmed in a live stream a few days ago that Final Fantasy XVI will include a New Game Plus ‘Final Fantasy’ difficulty mode for those looking for an extra challenge, with a Day One Patch for the game also on the cards.

Meanwhile, Ben Starr, the voice actor behind FFXVI protagonist Clive, recently shared during an interview that the game effectively saved his life by helping him deal with the passing of his father during production.
