EA Is Now Divided Into Two Organizations: EA Entertainment And EA Sports

Electronic Arts has just announced a huge shift for the company, as everything EA does will now fall under two organizations under the one EA brand.

EA Sports and EA Entertainment will be the two divisions of EA, where EA Sports will cover exactly what you’d expect it to with its annualized sports simulator titles and EA Entertainment will essentially be everything else.

Chief executive officer Andrew Wilson announced the change today in a blog post on the official EA website, outlining some of the high-level management changes.

Cam Weber has been named the head of EA Sports, while Laura Miele will head up EA Entertainment. Other things have stayed the same though, with Respawn’s Vince Zampella still heading up titles like Apex Legends, Battlefield, and EA’s Star Wars projects.

“Our business remains strong, and I could not be more excited about our future as we bring more amazing games and experiences to more people around the world,” Wilson said in his announcement.

It’ll be interesting to see if this new organizational form brings about fruitful collaboration among EA’s teams, and how that manifests in the games we see.

The announcement was titled “Empowering Our Creative Leaders To Drive Growth,” which sure sounds like it ought to bring about some good games. Hopefully that’s what we see.
